Don't replace your shower. Regrout it.

Regrouting, resealing and waterproofing across Melbourne's South East and the Mornington Peninsula. The mouldy grout and silicone come out, epoxy grout and colour-matched silicone go in, and the tiles stay on the wall.

Close-up of a real shower before the job: black mould packed down the screen track, peeling silicone on blue floor tiles.

Scrubbing your shower but it still looks dirty?

That's because it isn't sitting on top. It's in the old grout and silicone. Bleach takes the colour out for a while, then it comes back, because the stuff it's living in is still there.

You don't need a new bathroom. You need that stuff gone.

  • Black lines in the silicone that won't scrub out
  • Grout gone brown, patchy or falling out of the joints
  • Silicone peeling off the screen or the tray
  • Green growing along the shower screen track

Replaceor regrout?

Day one

ReplaceDemolition. Tiles and floor bed come up, the old waterproofing goes with them, and it all heads to a skip.

RegroutThe old grout and all the old silicone come out. Your tiles stay exactly where they are.

Mess and dust

ReplaceDays of jackhammer noise, with dust finding its way through the rest of the house.

RegroutWe work on the joints and around what you've got. One review put it as “very neat with the job”.

Your shower

ReplaceGone for as long as the build takes. Sort out where everyone's showering in the meantime.

RegroutNo strip-out, so no hole where your bathroom used to be. Ask how long yours will take when you send the photo.

Who's on site

ReplacePlumber, waterproofer, tiler, and someone to keep them all turning up in the right order.

RegroutYou deal with Abdul. His is the name you'll keep seeing in the reviews.

Your tiles

ReplaceBack to the showroom to pick new ones and hope they suit the rest of the house.

RegroutThe ones you already paid for, with fresh lines and silicone matched to suit.

Fair's fair: if your tiles are cracked or you just can't stand them, replacing is a fair call. Grout won't fix that.

What actually happens to your shower

Five steps, in this order. Skip the first three and you're sealing the problem back in.

1

Remove old grout

Out of the joints, so the new stuff has something clean to bond to.

2

Remove all old silicone

All of it. Not just the bits that have gone black.

3

Deep clean and mould treatment

Everything gets cleaned and treated before anything new goes on.

4

Apply epoxy grout

Pressed into every joint for lines that look brand new.

5

Apply colour-matched silicone

Matched to your tiles, so it finishes clean and doesn't look like a patch-up.

Why epoxy. Why Mapei.

  • Water resistant
  • Stain resistant
  • Mould resistant
  • Easy to clean
  • Long lasting

Abdul was very easy to work with. Professional, punctual and good communication skills. We had a good discussion around multiple options for the tiles in our apartment and we agreed on a solution that worked well for both of us and the tight timeframes we were working with. He delivered a very high quality standard of work, which we very much appreciate. Will definitely recommend for anyone looking for a professional tiler that knows what they are doing.

Straight answers

How much will it cost?

It depends on the size of the job and the state it's in, which is why we ask for 3 to 5 photos and your suburb first. The quote's free, there's no call-out fee, and you get a fixed price before anyone turns up. And price keeps coming up in the reviews: “Very reasonably priced too.”

Do you only do showers?

No. Jenny had her sliding doors and two windows resealed. Mai had verandah paver steps and brick steps repaired. Dipika had tiles done in her apartment. If it's tile, grout or silicone, ask.

Why epoxy grout?

The Mapei epoxy we use is water resistant, stain resistant, mould resistant, easy to clean and long lasting. That's what you want in the wettest room in the house.

Can you change my grout colour?

Yes, grout colouring is on the list. Clarissa had her floor grout painted while her shower was regrouted and the whole bathroom resealed. Tell us the colour you're after when you send the photo.

My shower's leaking. Will a regrout fix it?

Not always. If water's getting behind the tiles it may need waterproofing, which we also do. Send photos and tell us what you're seeing, like water marks on the other side of the wall.

Do you come to my suburb?

Abdul works across South East Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula, including Casey, Cardinia and Frankston. Berwick, Carrum Downs, Clyde, Clyde North, Cranbourne, Frankston, Langwarrin, Mornington, Mount Eliza, Narre Warren, Officer and Pakenham are all on the list. Somewhere else?
